Hi Kevin,
That's the main problem with these new bands...both the vocals and musicianship are far inferior to any of the "clone" AOR bands...
I actually listened to the Mars Electric and Everclear albums at a store recently....all I can say is that AOR fans should avoid these sorts of bands...I mean the first song on the Mars Electric is good but then after that the album gets shot down faster than a kamikaze pilot...
You will not be missing out on anything, you'll save your hard-earned $17 and you can buy the new TEN album with the money you were going to waste on that other crap
Is it any wonder that Portrait are considered failures within the genre....
Where are you now John kalodner...Ratt sells less than Ten although they have the major promotion, studio budget, and are signed to a major label....
I personally prefer ANY of the so called "clone" AOR bands over this new rubbish that people are calling "the new wave of melodic rock"
At least the clone bands have great musicianship....give me paint by the numbers AOR anyday!
The funny thing is, some people are claiming that the new AOR bands have nothing new to offer, whilst bands like Mars electric and Everclear are cheap imitations of each other.
I think I'll go back and listen to my Frontline "Right Attitude" cd....infinitely better than any of this "new" rubbish.
Cheers
Vince

Any of the ones you care to reccommend that have a really good vocalist with them. That's been my problem a bit as I'm more into vocals than anything else and the number of good ones in the popular scene are far and few between. Always been my problem on cds--if I can't get past the vocals, it's hard to enjoy the song.
