I think we should all get over this argument about Band X is better than Band Y if they sell XX times more albums. If that´s true then leave MHR out for the vultures to chew on while hip-hop reigns supreme. Even in MHR most of my fave acts sell less than the biggies - Journey, Aerosmith, Jovi, Leppard... their sales figures surely crush eg. Yngwie, Ten, Impelliteri, Sonata Arctica, but I´ll take the latter set over the former any day. Better musicians, better songs IMO and remember there´s no accounting for personal taste, so forget the hate mail OK!
´For the record: I got a Heartland CD single somewhere and thought it was the most insipid, wishy-washy, contrived load of tosh I´d heard in ages. To be honest, listening to the majority of acts featured on the Classic Rock freebie CD (covers a lot of new acts), in terms of songs and sheer class, Ten really are streets ahread of most of the competition. It has nothing to do with sales.
Finally - back to topic - to totally destroy my credibility, Popefreak has a bit of a point you know. Some of Gazzas phrasing occaisionally doesn´t sound a zillion miles away from ND´s.
OK OK I´ll syringe the ears tomorrow. But that´s what I think now!
