Like I said, I'm an incurable moron for computers. Yeah, I also know a few people who say they hear the exact same thing at 128 than at 256 or so. And I totally agree, 128 isn't good enough for me, the quality isn't as sharp as it could be.
I didn't understand one thing though, when you say:

What does that mean? Music being lost? Some of the quality goes away? And more importantly, is there another possible scheme where you wouldn't have to deal with this sort of loss?
I'm a total stickler for detail, so I obsess about not getting the absolute best sound quality I can.....in that case, I should always go for the "bigger is better" rule, right? Just make em at 3-hundred-whatever if I can every time, no? I don't mind how much the files occupy and I guess it'll help the sound.
