Are you missing the point or what? Or do you just have a tremendous hard on for Mike Reno?
You said: "As I said before, you only like these bands when the going is good"
OF FUCKING COURSE! Why would I like the music if it was bad?!? Their album they did for MTM was horrible. Just because I like the band doesnt mean I have to like everything they do!
As for your fairweather fan comments...it's attitudes like this that is killing AOR as a genre. This whole 'I have to like it because it's AOR, no matter how good or bad' attitude does nothing to further good music in the genre.
Loverboy SUCKED THAT NIGHT!!! They were far from busting their butts. Their show blew chunks...what am I asking for is my money's worth. I dont think that's too much to ask for to put a little bit into your show. It dont matter even that Reno sounded crappy...the whole band looked like they were bored and just wanted to get out of there and to the local Burger King to stuff their faces. People were starting to boo and laugh towards the end of their set. Rick Springfield followed and just shit all over them. Heres someone pushing 52 and still puts on an amazing show.
Of course I'm not just happy seeing a band I grew up with. Shit, I've seen them in the 80s and they were good then. But I'm not so blind (or deaf) of a fan that I cant see beyond a bad performance.
I would rather the music doesnt sound exactly like the records. I go to shows to be entertained. If I wanted to see some guys stand motionless on a stage and recreate the music pefectly, and look bored while they are at it, you're right...I could just put on a CD.
Take Bon Jovi...always a fucking phenomenal show. Rick Springfield, Night Ranger, Triumph, Rush, Springsteen...they know how to put on a show!
This is such a stupid argument. You want to see bad shows, enjoy yourself. I'll save my money for artists who give a shit about their fans.
