You are what I like to call a "fair weathered fan". You probably only like your State baseball team when they are winning. A true fan of these bands is not just a fan of the music, they are a fan of the people who made the music. I am smart enough to know that the forty-something bands are not going to put on the same concerts they did when they were twenty-something. They should not be expected to. I know there are exceptions, so please don't start throwing names of aging bands that still do a phenominal show.
All I'm saying is that for whatever reason some of them cannot do it anymore. Health problems and extra weight qualify as legitimate reasons. People who go to a Foreigner concert and don't care to remember all of the good times Lou Gramm provided for them over the years do not need to go. It's like visiting an old friend for me when I go see these guys. They were a major part of my life and brought me alot of smiles.
It's just like Dennis Deyoung not being in Styx. He is the one I grew up with, he is the one that I remember dancing to at the prom...ect... If I want to go see a cover musician sing Styx songs, I can go to the club down the street. I don't need to go see the "fake Styx". I consider these singers people from my past. They are not just replacable robots. If Foreigner got another singer, I would not go. I have not seen the "fake Styx" and I would not go see a "fake Foreigner". Even if the new guy sang the songs just like Lou did back in the day, it would not matter. I would rather see Lou talk his way through the songs anyday. I can play the cd to hear the songs...I am going to see Lou.
Sorry, I kind of went off on a rant there, but this is a touchy subject for me.
