Here are my personal favorites:
-- Joe Lynn Turner: Always fantastic in my book! After meeting him and finding him to be one of the sweetest, kindest, and most appreciative artist I've ever met, he's even bigger on my list.
-- Kelly Keagy: This man blows me away every single time! He sings circles around Jack Blades. I can't wait to hear his solo album. Damn it! They don't tour enough!!!
-- Harold Hess: I can't get enough of this man's voice... However, there is that "Rubber" thing to consider... :::shudder::: Hopefully, in time, that phase will be over and we'll get some more of what we've all been craving. The self-titled and "Mood Swings" albums seem to get the most airplay in my car, followed by "Kharma Cleansing," with "Voice of Reason" trailing way, way behind.
-- Keith Slack: I am positively obsessed with "Slaves of the New World" (and I really like "Metallic Blue")! This man's voice, to me, is absolutely perfect! He's got the power, the emotion, and the range that is needed for melodic hard rock without any high-pitched squeels or growling. And the best part... He still sounds like a man! ;-)
That's why I have a hard time with a lot of the heavy metal vocalists around like Geddy Lee, Dio, etc. Although, technically, they are very talented vocalists, I can't stand the extremely high-pitched screeches and wails, nor can I listen to men who seem to only sing higher up in the "dogs-can-only-hear" octave ranges than others (i.e., Geddy).
There are several other vocalists that I enjoy, but these are they guys that I seem to put on more often than anyone else in my collection. I think Steelhouse Lane are pure genius and would kill to see these guys play live! Come on... I need a fix! :-D
