RE: TOP TEN guitarists: the problem is...

Well, I honestly think that he always writes great albums. If you compare "Rising Force" (mostly instrumental neoclassical) with "Odyssey" (mostly hard rock) with "Facing the ANimal" (much LESS neoclassical, heavier stuff), you will see that they are all completely different albums

One thing actually that I love about Yngwie is that he can write a wide variety of music, from great instrumentals, to blindingly fast metal songs, to beautiful ballads

As for his solos, I will agree that they tend to sound similar but I think he has evolved from a soloist to a full-fledged songwriter

Just check out the "odyssey" album...any song on there could have been a hard rock hit!

I feel he's one of the greatest songwriters in the past two decades

Cheers

Vince

Am I missing something with Malmsteen ? There is no doubt he is technically
brilliant and there are some great albums recrded by the man but I can't tell one solo from the next. He never seems to change pace ( well hardly ) and everything
becomes much of a muchness.
