The "casual Styx fan" (i.e., the fan that probably just knows the hits from hearing them on the radio) probably wouldn't know Dennis if they tripped over him.
I sat next to an avid Dennis fan at a show once and she told me that she considered not even going because she knew ahead of time that Dennis wasn't going to be there. She later decided to go anyway because she had been a fan of Styx for so long and really love their music. Somewhere in the middle of the show, I turned and asked her how she thought the new guy (Lawrence Gowan) was doing and she gave me a huge smile and said that she really liked him. She said that it was one of the best concerts that she had ever seen. Mind you, this was in a "dry" casino, as in no alcohol served at all. ;-) Things are as they are and I am willing to accept it and move on.
Also, I know for a fact that the BTM special on Styx was not complete and that there was tons of material that was taken out at the last minute (as in, the Friday before the show originally aired). The story was supposed to be a very different one. I wish the public was allowed to see the original version. Instead, we got what someone wanted us to see. Too bad...
