It does make sense when you put it this way. Sure there where loads of bands that looked and sounded similar. Some of them I thought were pretty bad (Herricane Alice, Roxy Blue) While others like Heavens Edge or Babylon AD were among my favorites.
But it kinda still bums me out when bands like BAD, HE or D2... never reached the same audience as say Cinderella. just because they came two years too late.. They certainly had the musical talent.
But I guess you're right, the media (MTV, radio) wanted new darlings....
