I, too, am puzzled by the refusal of many melodic rock fans to listen to bands like Tonic, Vertical Horizon, Marvelous 3, etc. with an open mind. This is the new generation of melodic rock - the Journey/Foreigner/Boston-era is over as awesome as those bands were in their heyday.
As far as that House Of Lords reunion is concerned - I'm sure it's gonna make a lot of fans happy, but what planet is Chuck Wright on if he thinks any serious label - not counting Portrait (which I personally think is turning into a bigger joke every week...) - would want to sign a bunch of 45-year olds playing a mixture of 'Ozzy ca. 'No More Tears' and 'QR - 'Operation: Mindcrime'?' C'mon, lets' get real! Of course, Z, MTM, N&T and Escape are already beating their door down wanting to sign them and I don't doubt that the Lords are capable of turning in a strong record - which will stand a snowball's chance in hell commercially speaking...!
I'm still waiting for a bunch of 20-year olds that look like Limp Bizkit (kinda anyway...), can play their instruments and write great melodic (hard) rock songs to pop up out of the blue. That's what will turn things around - a band the industry can push through MTV and the teen-oriented outlets, like they were able to in the 80's. Everything else is wishful thinking.
