Yo Jack...
I haven't seen any MP3 editors myself...
For most songs that I edit I usually use WinAmps Diskwriter feature to write the MP3 out to a WAV file. Then I use Steinberg Wavelabs 2 to edit the wav file. Once finished I use Xing Audiocatalyst to reencode the wav back to mp3...
