I recently picked up the Open Skyz-S/T album and I must say that it is excellent!!! I have heard some assorted soundbytes of Hugo, but nothing that ever really had me going. I popped that bad-boy in my CD player and I was hooked from the opening......uh.....hook. Now I am adding more Hugo material to my wish list. Check it out if you haven't heard it, I think you will be impressed.
I guess I was turned-off by the constant Steve Perry comparisons. I like my music to be as original as possible. Influences are great, but carbon copies aren't. Well, it's true, at times he sounds just like Steve Perry. But, he pulls it off well, in fact very well.
