Just to throw a spanner in the works here. I went to a local 'rock' night here in England recently and the Dj who had a stint of 80's/ MHR music had a bunch of 5-10 of the usual suspects on the dance floor. Come midnight, when the other DJ took over, the first thing on the deck was the ROLING STONES 'paint it black'. The dancefloor FILLED and the weird thing was that there wasn't one person on there over, say 25!!
So these 'kids' are into current stuff post '91 and early stuff pre '79. It looks scarily like the 80's is a lost generation of music to a lot of people.
Maybe we were all gullible, but I still love some of those bands. So, why can't these kids hear what I hear, when I hear, ICON for example?
