I have two burners, one for my stereo and one for computer.
For my stereo, I got a Phillips dual deck burner, which has worked flawlessly (over 100 CDRs so far) except for once. The one CD that would not burn had some videos on it too, which previously had not been a problem for other expanded edition CDs.
For computer, I bought a burner primarily to do backups. I have burned a couple of music CDs, which largely have been a major pain in the ass viz-a-viz the Phillips.
The one suggestion I have for PC burners is to get the SCSI over the IDE, if at all possible. IDEs can be interrupted by the OS and cause problems (ie create a coaster). With IDE units, usually one has to turn off the virus software and all other running programs, and only run the burner s/w exclusively. With SCSI units, no suck precautions need to be taken.
