Actually Danzig has very little to do with "Gothic Metal". Gothic Metal has it's roots in Classical, Early Music, Black Metal and Progressive Rock.

Probably the two best labels working in this field are Dark Symphonies and Napalm Records. Two band I would recommend are Rain Fell Within from New Jersey, and Tristania from the UK., Tristania is an Incredible mix of Metal, Neo Classical and Choral Music, and is quite excellent. I have nothing to compare it to! The band's latest-"Beyond The Veil" is out on Napalm. Rain Fell Within's "Believe" CD is along similar lines, but not quite as intense as Tristania.

The whole genre is somewhat "Spooky" in my opinion, but there is some highly interesting music coming out the scene, so it's worth checking out.

Eric
