A bunch of spooky guys dressed in black (with chains and spikes and stuff), trying to play dark, heavy metal music as fast as possible, with as deep and spooky and unintelligible a voice as possible... and their film clips usually have swords and axes and skeletons and blood...
[this is my interpretation of it anyway]
