Actually, I think The Cult are/were a fine band with some incredible songs. I like some of the (heavier) HOL stuff as well but I will say that The Cult's music is more timeless in a sense that where HOL sound like a typical albeit great 80's product, a record like 'Electric' or 'Sonic Temple' could've easily been recorded last year. The Cult are not as easily pigeonholed into one specific era musically. That's part of the reason why they actually have a chance at making a decent comeback if the new album rocks whereas HOL will be strictly an AOR underground thing.
