In defense of Gary, Gary was not trying to sound like sammy. Those songs except a few were given to him by eddie in sammy's range. He tried to please
eddie and had to strain his voice way beyond its capabilities. His music with
Extreme always suited gary's voice & never had to strain so much. Notice
gary's vocals are mixed way down on some of the songs and eddie's guitar
is way over the mix.
There was going to be trouble ahead at that point. It was the best
thing to happen to gary to leave those Van Halen boys. Now he can sing
different styles than have to sing within set parameters.
