Open & Homerun vs the early works

Well, I think it's safe to say that the d-frosted album was a turning point in their career. That album is a -mostly acoustic- live album with a number of their best-known songs & some new ones as well.

The albums that came after that (Open & Homerun) are more mellow than the ones before.
I guess you could say that their 1st 3 albums (s/t, Dial Hard & G) are more metal-oriented, whereas the last 2 are more AOR-oriented, but they all fall under the 'melodic hard rock' monicker.

I for one particularly like the cover songs they did on the first 3 albums ; their versions of 'Hush', 'Mighty Quinn' & 'Come Together' are just plain awesome!

Anyway, in your case, I think 'G' would be a good starting point to start discovering the rest of their albums.
