I'm not really slagging you off but what would be obscene would be if anybody in the minute niche of AOR / melodic rock was making any money since there are diddly squat fans. This is back again to this "let's wake up - this scene is miniscule" discussion that's gone on here for years. The ELO point is interesting. 50,000 albums in the USA is what what made an "AOR obscurity" for future years if it happened in 76-80. And that was when way less albums sold in the total market. These "one hit" wonder rappers actually sell loads - just that the niches are so hard & fast these days only a few of their songs break out into mainstream but the total market they work is huge. How many urban black stations where you live compared to the number playing "new classic rock" (non sequitur acknowledged)? Loads more? You and I just don't know these markets an the people in them. Could all the regular posters here who are ethnic minorities (USA or Europe) living in below poverty line (by your own country's definition) urban situations please put your hands up? Thought not .... big world out there ... not too much of it interested in Journey...

One other thing .. a number of the black labels / artists have also made more money because they've kept the whole thing independent .. cut out Sony and all of a sudden you don't ned to sell 5 million to make a living...
