I think you hit the nail in the head here.

The music industry survives on change. For every generation of music buyers it loses a new generation comes along and each generation needs something to call its own. Chances are, if you're in your 30's now and were into the 80's rock scene, the labels think your time has gone! Like it or not, and we can all complain and harp on about how quality should count, but listen, what teenagers are going to like the music their parents like? Being a teenager is about rebelling for Godsake!

There IS a place for 80's musicians but the 'cutting edge' isn't it! Accept the scene as it is. Be grateful there are still people that want to try and provide us with the sound we yearn for but...open your eyes and ears and appreciate some of the great, current bands/music out there whilst retaining your respect for the guys who don't want to die just yet.
