time to accept the era is over & move on....

I am an avid lover of the eighties style melodicrock/metal/rock, or whatever you want to call it. But....I think its time to accept that that era is over & it most likely aint comin' back! I think this latest resurgence of these eighties bands trying to make a comeback was great....most of them came out with cd's that were true to their eighties style. Other than Def Leppard going gold (500,000 sold) with Euphoria, most of these bands did not find much success.
At one point, I heard Great White's cd had sold ~60,000, Ratt had approx. the same # sold, Dokken, Iron Maiden...... Even Bon Jovi's latest attempt, Crush has rapidly dropped from #9 to #29 in the Billboard rankings. AC-DC's Stiff Upper Lip debuted high in the charts then rapidly dropped from the rankings as well. Sad. While we see the "new" rock....Kid Rock, Limp Bizkit, etc... selling 6, 7 million plus.
Part of the problem may be that these eighties bands just aren't putting out the material they used to, when they were young and HUNGRY. I am hoping that some band, whether new or an eighties band, will come out with a BREAKTHROUGH cd that will bring this style back. However, for the most part, I have accepted that this era is over & probably will only remain in my memories (great ones they were!).
Any opinions or arguments to what I've just said??????????
p.s. One person I am pulling for is Mark Kendall & his new band, Train Station.....maybe they'll be the band that has a big breakthrough!
