Paul Rodgers and Company

After the Hardline album tanked (much to my pain), Neal, Todd Jensen and Deen Castronovo hooked up with Paul Rodgers for a small summer tour as Paul Rodgers and Company. They recorded a 5 song EP called The Hendrix Set which was recorded at an outdoor show in Florida on the 4th of July in 1993. It's an okay release. As a Neal Schon fanatic and a huge fan of Rodgers vocal work I thought it would be a must have, but it's really nothing special given that it's all just Jimi Hendrix tunes, which doesn't really play to Neal's strength. He's much more melodic and crisp while the whole vibe of Hendrix is to be loose and noisy. They do an admirable job with it and I'm sure it was great to see live, but as a recorded work it's kinda pointless. Worthwhile for Schon/Rodgers fans if you can find it, but certainly not anything worth going out of your way to find. Whatever you do, don't overpay for it. Again, it's only an EP.
