Re: The DJ Klaus bashing/Lovemetal

Ted,

I can fully understand an artists frustration when someone disses his or her work. I also find it commendable when someone is really passionate about what they do. I am in a creative position in advertising and know a thing or two about being rejected and having to deal with bone-headed marketing executives who don't understand a single thing about creativity and quality advertising. But unlike you, I can't just unload my frustrations on some messageboard. I actually sit in the same room with these people and have to bite my lips or else I'll get fired. Musicians, in my opinion, are in many cases over sensitive when it comes to criticism. And they usually strike back by saying things "Hell, what the f**k have you done lately?". For all you know, DJ Klaus might be very successful in his day job...

About your music: I have to disappoint you, I'm probably one of the few people on this board who won't buy "Lovemetal". I did check out the soundbytes, but it's just not my thing (anymore). I fairly enjoyed the early Danger Danger stuff and even owned the first Bonemachine album. My question is: Why did you decide with all your post D2 projects to go the indendent route and spend so little money on your recordings? Why not signing with a "real" label and getting a "proper" release? To be honest, the soundquality of that Bonemachine album was horrendeous. I believe many other artists would have gotten away with what you did on "Lovemetal" just because the songs are of good quality. But given that you have a history of releasing sub standard productions, people (i.e. critics) will automatically ignore anything else and just pick on that. You state in another post that if you were given a $ 250'000 advance, you'd still only use a fraction of that money. I don't understand that. True, you have to save a penny for a rainy day, but if someone trusts you with so much money, I'd try to make the best of it.

Peter
