Well, Mutt Lange's involvement seems to be fairly limited. Joe said he was extremely busy with Shania Twain but would still help them out in some capacity, mostly songwriting etc. He said he had already sent a song for Mutt to critique and that he did very good job of it. He may produce a track or two, but that's it, and even then the band doesn't know....Shania's upcoming album is priority 1 for the man. My guess is that his partiocipation will be similar to what he did on Euphoria, but maybe they can dig him out of Switzerland to actually produce something. At least he's still willing to write with the guys....

In reality, his co-production on Adrenalize wasn't a very hands-on thing either. Sure he wrote many of those songs but that was mostly before the band entered the studio. As far as real co-production, he was in the studio with Bryan Adams for Waking Up the Neighbors the whole time....but the Leps were constantly sending him tapes and he'd send them back with ideas, asking him for advice, phoning him up to plunder his mind for ideas, etc....he did help out in some capacity, but mostly long distance....I remember reading that Joe said the gave him credit as Exec Producer because it was the "gentlemanly thing to do", to recognize - beyond the songwriting Mutt did - his valuable contribution to how the record sounds by not just sweeping it under the carpet and pretend they handled it all by themselves.

So by Joe's remarks on knac it seems Mutt won't do any actual production on the new on, but will be on hand as far as advice/songwriting goes. Phil says the 2 songs he wrote with Marti Fredriksen are excellent, and it seems he'll be doing some actul producing of a few tracks, so we'll see.....

That kind of variety - of shifting from Fredriksen to Woodroffe to possibly Mutt might make the album not sound terribly cohesive, but - the results, and comparing between the tracks - should be interesting to hear.

Cheers,
Jack.
