Good post!

That was an extremely interesting post. I've tried looking for things to disagree with (cos I always do :-) but most of that was extremely persuasively argued, and mostly common sense that couldn't be argued with. I think there are a lot of freeloaders around, and the fact that this "something for nothing at the same time as berating other people for not supporting the scene" attitude has spread from mp3s to gigs is no surprise. I may be an old curmudgeon (you mean there's a doubt?) but I try to pay my way. As for your comments about dancing rather than watching.. there is one thing I'd put forward as a suggestion. I don't know about other Gods attendees (real and prospective) but 35 years, an overexuberant attitude to fielding at cover when younger and too may pizzas since are beginning to make themselves known to my knees and 14 hours of AOR stood up is much better in theory than practice .. especially when the only refuge without masses of forward planning is that damned KFC... maybe shorter Gods would paradoxically be more rather than less? Your last comment on the Gods was rather intriguing. Are you agreeing with me that AOR is now essentially and irretrievably a retro genre? Sorry if I read too much into that comment but in the same way the Hollies and the Kinks aren't going to get to #1 any more - the 60s scene and AOR start to look more and more alike.... but you're very right to point out that having changed preferences within the relatively narrow band of AOR / Nu-Breed (whatever that means!) doesn't make anyone a better or cleverer person. We would not attempt to define everyone on here as bigger/better/cleverer than our counterparts at GeorgeFormbyRocks.com - so why feel the necessity to get snooty among "friends"

Good luck with the Gods, I'll be there if you can get something as good as The Sign on again (do I get a ticket price reduction for only liking one band on the bill? Only joking!).
