The problem with that is... your CD collection becomes one "greatest hits" album after another. And the problem with "greatest hits" albums is they are two-dimensional.. only focussing on a band's commercially recognized stuff and ignoring some of the still-cool album cuts.

Take Def Leppard for instance. You buy "Vault"- you pretty much get what you expect. But where's "Gods of War" (my fave track off "Hysteria")? Or the under-rated "Comin' Under Fire" and "Action! Not Words" off "Pyromania" which pretty much bests anything off "Adrenalize" (IMHO).
