Let's see what we can come up with.......
10.Warrant.....Cherry Pie.....Jani is a great songwriter and Cherry Pie is a stonking album of hard hitting pop rock , possibly the defining album of a genre??
9 Danger Danger.......Screw It......they got it absolutley right with this one , power, melody and Ted's incredible vocal.
8.Giant......Time to Burn.....Dann Huff and co at their best...this album is a classic
7.Signal......S/T.....Mark (Marcie) Free at his best , this album should have been absolutley huge...there's no justice in this world!!!
6.Tyketto....Don't come Easy......Danny Vaughn is God (or close to it!!)
5.Winger.....Pull...great mature sounding album from Kip , Reb is awesome also......bears little resembelance to either of the prior two efforts , fantastic album.
4.Firehouse.......S/T..seldom does a band manage to get it totally right , but on this Firehouse got it absolutley spot on, rockers, ballads, power and subtelty, and killer musicianship...it's no wonder they beat Nirvana to the American Music Awards in 1991.......a benchmark release for all those up and coming bands to aspire to.
3.Unruly Child......S/T.....this came out at the tail end of melodic rock's dominence , what a pity it didn't appear two years previously, it would have been a monster, for anybody into melodi rock this album is utterly and totally indespensible.......a forty five minute musical orgasm.
=2.Fair Warning.....S/T....hard hitting debut from the German melodic rock masters...this has all the ingredients , great songs and Tommy Heart's impassioned vocal...a must have
=2. Mitch Malloy......S/T...cult classic, Malloy has an incredible voice , the album failed to get a European release due to label politics, but went on to become one of those albums you speak about in revered tones, Anything at All has to be one of the finest performances ever by a melodic rock artist.
1.Harem Scarem......Mood Swings....this album defined the sound of an entire generation of bands, the guys should have retired after this because they have (and never will) better it.How many album adverts do you see for new bands citing the sound of their album is close to that of Mood Swings... even some 8 years later.the ultimate desert Island disc........Harry, Pete, Mike and Darren.....without doubt your finest hour!!!!!
Honurable mentions for :
Dare.....Out of the Silence
Holy Soldier......S/T
Ten.....S/T
Nelson.....After the Rain
Dream Theater......Images and Words
Paul Laine......Stick it in your Ear
Guardian......Fire and Love
