Planet X

Hi all,

Its amazing how the net works. After I posted a review of an Eric Johnson show a week ago I got some great replies from you guys. One from John Q led me to check out more details on a guitarist called Shawn Lane.

From there I searched the net for Lane and came across a brilliant CD site called Audiophile Imports. From AI I came across a band called Planet X which includes the brilliant Australian drummer, Virgil Donati. He teams up with a top axeman by the name of Tony MacAlpine. I have 3 of MacAlpine's early albums but have not bought any for years. I said to my wife that a Planet X CD might be worth getting. A day later, I pick up a local music magazine and what should I find but an advertisment for Planet X who are appearing in Melbourne (Corner Hotel) on June 4th and 13th. Is that uncanny or what?

I'm buying a ticket tomorrow.

I checked out the Virgil Donati home site and boy has he kicked on abit since I use to watch him as a teenager playing in a band at the local Hotel.

I see he is now playing with Vai and Billy Sheehan on the upcoming G3 tour. How big is that! Donati sure does get some huge reviews for his playing these days.

Has anyone seen Planet X or Macalpine perform recently, and if so what's the verdict?

Regards Paul.
