Here are the releases for years 1981 and 1982,
which I feel speak for themselves. There's some left out, like
the releases from Spys-a band comprised of ex. Foreigner members
and Survivor, but those two weren't really notable bands big back then.
Of course, not all bands on this list were notable, ever.

1981-
Pat Benatar-Precious Time
Black Sabbath-Mob Rules
Blue Oyster Cult-Fire of Unknown Origin (funny how noone talks about these guys)
Budgie-Nightflight
Def Leppard-High and Dry
Gamma-2
Journey-Escape
Judas Priest-Point of Entry
Krokus-One Vice at a Time
Magnum-Chase the Dragon
Ozzy Osbourne-Blizzard of Ozz
Pat Travers-Radioactive
Triumph-Allied Forces
Toto-Turn Back (perhaps some of Toto's heaviest moments!)
Rainbow-Difficult to Cure
Riot-Fire Down Under
Riff Raff-Vinyl Futures
Rush-Moving Pictures
Sammy Hagar-Standing Hampton
Michael Schenker Group-MSG
Van Halen-Fair Warning

1982

Asia-Asia
Balance-In For the Count
Dokken-Breaking the Chains
Gamma-3
Hughes Thrall-Hughes Thrall
Iron Maiden-Number of the Beast
Kiss-Creatures of the Night
Mayday-Revenge
Gary Moore-Corridors of Power
Nightranger-Dawn Patrol
Ted Nugent-Nugent
Aldo Nova-Aldo Nova
Judas Priest-Screaming for Vengeance
Riggs-Riggs
707-Megaforce
Scorpions-Blackout
Thin Lizzy-Renegade
38 Special-Special Forces
UFO-Mechanix
Vandenberg-Vandenberg
Wrabit-Tracks
YNT-Black Tiger

Practically all these releases came out thru major labels like Columbia,
Elektra, Polygram, Jet, Epic, A&M, Boardwalk, EMI, Harvest, and others.
For the most part, the bands had enough time and money, to write, record and finish these records, unless they were pushing tour date deadlines. The album artwork for these albums were superior to alot of later eighties albums, mainly because LP's were the main visual method in identifying
and legitimizing a band. Budgets weren't being stretched towards video
marketing yet, so more resources and effort could be put into album
artwork conceptualizing and execution.
