The sad problem is that most of the labels still putting out
melodic hard rock have no real budgets to speak of. Just finished
reading "The Dirt" by Motley Crue and they mentioned that
the recording budgets for their albums went something like this:
200K for "Theatre of Pain" 600K for "Dr. Feelgood"
and over $1,000,000 for the S/T album with Corabi. Who doesn't wish most
of the albums being put out by current MR bands had one fifth the budgets
the Crue worked with? The recording budgets for the Crue didn't even includ
the promotional budgeting.
