You seem to have opened a can of worms here my friend, I couldn't agree more with you about endless reissues of bands....why not give new bands a chance?

I recently went to the Z rock in Manchester and saw some excellent bands, especially Contagious, they weren't doing anything new, but they were new and doing their own thing in their own style. I bought the EP and found it a breath of fresh air, it isn't over produced and to be honest it sounds weak in parts but the songs are there. Z seems to have signed a good new band with them, BUT they also have the abominable Tygers of Pan Tang and Shy..te, these guys were great in their day but why are they still flogging a dead horse?

I sometimes don't mind older bands still playing IF they have something new to give, I hate old bands that do nothing new, they keep re-hashing the same old crap and expecting people to take them seriously.

There are some great new bands out there who deserve a chance, I will be at the Phoenix Rising on Sunday in Manchester to watch Ten and Bob Catley (now theres a man who I thought should give it up, but his new album is great, written and produced by Gary Hughes who maybe should have concentrated on the last Ten album a bit more) and whoever else is on, I am a bit peeved about Emerald Rain pulling out and I have heard that Lost Weekend have pulled too, no doubt I will see some unsingned bands that will never be given a chance but keep on trying!

In finishing I think that Joe is the moron, he is obviously having a bad day to take your post so seriously and he has a problem with someone having a different opinion to his own!

Good post, and I agree with you about Z, the best label in this genre if you like the rockier stuff.
