Frontiers is a very bassy record with limited treble. I would even go as far as to say it's Journey's "darkest" album. Contrarily, Raised on Radio suffers from a lack of bass and too much treble (a common trapping of most mid-80's recordings: Starship "Knee Deep in the Hoopla", Mr. Mister "Welcome to the Real World" to name but two). I don't know why you think "Arrival" is any less poorly EQ-ed. Kevin Shirley is no slouch in the production dept, so I'm not sure I know where you're coming from. Maybe you should adjust the EQ settings on your stereo and give it a second listen.

Good luck
