NEW AOR STILL RULES!!!

Tying in with the Journey discussion below on the messageboard is the debate over the merits of modern AOR in comparison to older so-called "classic aor and the nu-breed(hate that title)!
I for one disagree with John Q(though I respect his obvious intellect) that AOR these days is rehashed and "all been done before". Yes, there are always going to be a few releases that lack originalty but there's a multiplicity of great stuff!
In the last year or so the following AOR CLASSICS have been released:
THE SIGN; KHARMA - wonderland; NEWMAN-dance in your fire(awesome); DANGER DANGER-great gildersleeves; KANSAS -somewhwere to elsewhere; HEARTLAND - as it comes; LOST WEEKEND- presence of mind(great pomp rock); JOURNEY-arrival. I could go on - these ones spring immediately to mind...
Yes there are always going to be the duds - Asia being one of my favourite bands doesn't mitigate the fact that I think "Aura" is a very average album.
But overall I think modern AOR is doing as well as any other genre. Why does everyone always bag AOR? I'm also a fan of "melodic metal" and"progressive metal" and I can state categorically that there's a "lot more copying and lack of innovation in these genres. If I hear one more Dream Theater or Helloween clone I think I'll choke!WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK! cheers.kaos fan!
