Oz, the music, the pubs...

Its availability is a bit sporadic, depends which stores he visits. There's a commercial chain of stores here called "Sanity Music", its usually on their shelves, to my knowledge its not a deleted item. And if he's in Sydney, tell him to go to Utopia Records on George St, fucking unreal store. You can check out their catalogue online now I think, something obvious like www.utopia.com.au, but can't remember exactly off the top of my head. When I used to live on the east coast, and planned a trip to Sydney, I always put aside half a day and a couple of hundred bucks to blow in that shop. And they stock all the imported stuff, the Jap stuff is really exe caus' our dollar sucks at the moment, but the European imports are standard price ie 30 aussie dollars for a CD. The way your dollar is at the moment, go nuts son, you'll make a killing, give him a big ass list and tell him to fill up the basket, lol.

As far as other aussie CD's go, I've only got a couple of recommendations, and even then you may have them. Check out these:
Baby Animals - s/t (Suzy Dimachi on vox, married to NunoB of extreme, BABE!)
Noiseworks - s/t (a must have, mixture of oz aor and rock, vocal god!)
and for something a little bit different, I urge you to get:
Icehouse - Master File, its a little bit pop, its a little bit rock, its a little bit aor, but its a best of collection from one of Australia's finest bands from the 80's. Master File contains tracks from the entire collection bar one album - Man Of Colours, so if you get both Master File and Man Of Colours, you'll have the difinitive collection. MOC is fantastic, probably their most AOR-ish and commercial album.

Hope that dribble helps you out man, does your bro drink? He better learn fast if he doesn't. If he's in Melbourne, tell him to go to The Palace (rock bar, at least it used to be), if he's in Sydney, tell him to hit the George St bar at lunch time for a perve (55 George St, near the Rocks/Harbour Bridge) and then go into North Sydney and have a few at the Greenwood - BABE CITY!!! If he's in Brisbane, tell him to hit the City Rowers, again, babes everywhere. If he's in Adelaide, he's gotta check out The Grand in Glenelg (end of the tram line), beach front pub, great bar staff, and on the offchance he's in Perth, well there's more pubs here then houses, drop me a line and I'll sort him for a night out ;-)

Cheers and beers

Benno
