Okay these aren't NEW albums but they are new to me so I think I should review them anyway. WTF. Get the albums off NAPSTER

These are cds that were burned by a friend for my birthday. All the tracks are off of Napster. I think I got both albums which are Sven Gali - Under The Influence and Shark Island - Law of the Order. Both cd's are super-rare and cool rare hard rock.

First: Sven Gali

For those that don't know. Sven Gali are a band out of canada that put out a album back in 91 I think. The album was recently reissued by Axe Killer records. Good luck finding it.

Sven Gali are best summed up in a few words: Skid Row Skid Row Skid Row. David Wanless sounds like a Seb Bach but with a slightly higher voice.

The tracks I like are:

In My Garden: Moody, mid-tempo rocker. Reminds me of a dark Skid Row ballad like Quicksand Jesus.

Whisper In The Rain: This is a ballad but, like another ballad I will mention later, this one isn't typical. There's an odd Verse-Chorus progression and the song is slightly happier than you'd expect from the title. Nice inspirational song. Builds to a cool end. Think I Remember You but more positive.

Love Don't Live Here Anymore: The closest these guys got to a hit back in the day. This is a pretty standard acoustic ballad like More Than Words. Its better than that song but not by much. Very fluffy. Skid Row would have never done this.

Sweet Little Gypsy: The 88th song by a metal band to have the word Gypsy, Sweet and LIttle in it. Guess what though, its an awesome sleaze rocker. Absolutely killer. A song to strip by.

Under The Influence: @!#$ YEAH!!! This song kicks serious ass!! This could have been a Skid Row classic. Think Monkey Business but with a chorus that just RIPS!!! I saw this video on Much Music too so I got lucky. Its a great song with great metal lyrics (Slide across the blade of the knife, its a suicide, stare into the eyes of the night, you'll be hypnotized) The Skid Row chorus from hell...dark, heavy and full of attitude.

From what I hear, this is a good album. Get the tracks off Napster. DON'T get anything from the Sven Gali album Inwire. That album sucks. Its alternative.
