Loverboy Live in 2001(Review)

I had the pleasure of seeing Loverboy perform live at the Canyon Club in Agora Hills, California on March 23rd. The band sounded great and featured 4 of the 5 origional members minus Scott Smith who recently passed away. It was nice to Doug Johnson back on keyboards. The band however does look quite different these days. Mike Reno has packed on a gangload of weight and Paul Dean looks about 60 years old. The new bass player is really good and does look like Scott Smith. The band pretty much stuff to the "Loverboy" and "Get lucky" albums for the most part. Here's what I remember the band playing: "Notorious", "Turn me loose", "Lady of the 80's", "Prissy Prissy", "The kid is hot tonight", "Take me to the top", "Jump", "Lucky ones", "When it's over", "Hot girls in love", and "Working for the weeekend". The Caynon Club is almost like a dinner theater and the place was packed. However, I don't know if everyone was there to see the band or have dinner. It took a long time for the crowd to get into the band. In fact, the band didn't even come out for an encore.

P.S. Howard Leese from Heart was there hanging out and talking to fans.
