Proof that I never liked pop

Just two examples of why I've never liked 'pop' and probably never will. Sure, the metal bands I listen to rehash old riffs and borrow from here and borrow from there, but at least they do it with their own signature. After waking up far too early on Saturday morning (Saturday begins at 4pm for me normally) I thought I'd put on Video Hits while I struggled through some breakfast. They played all the latest crap, the clip for Original Prankster is a bit of a laugh, how's that bird who needs more support, sheesh, and don't we all love watching Jennifer Lopez at various stages of undress, but there were two tracks that really stood out, and for the wrong reasons.

Human Nature's "He Don't Love You" and Roxette's new one, the name of which escapes me. "He Don't Love You" should be very embarrassing for Human Nature for two reasons, firstly, its a carbon copy of the song "Bye Bye Bye" and secondly because in the film clip, they even borrow the dance moves and hair cuts and...I could go on, but its just too unbelievable that this was considered a good idea. Now to Roxette's new track, and don't get me wrong, I used to really dig Roxette - Look Sharp was one of my favourite albums back when it came out - but their new track is a carbon copy of "I Want You" by Savage Garden. Am I the only one that is seeing and hearing this stuff? These are successful artists too, what's going on???

I don't pretend to know that much about music or the industry or the business, but what I hear is what I hear, and I'm just glad that I'm in to what I am. Rant finished, pass the beer nuts...

Cheers and beers

Benno
