UK labels and stores

The major record labels and stores in the UK absolutely loathe rock music in any form.
In London, Virgin and HMV only started selling hard rock and thrash in the 80s because of the business Shades (RIP) was doing and also due to the arrival of Tower. Indeed, Tower is the only store with a decent stock of imports and at usually better prices than Virgin or HMV.
And we know there is a real unwillingness for major record companies in this country to push rock music. Of course, there are plenty of people in the industry deeply frustrated that they can do nothing to assist the process because of all the obstacles being put in their way.
The same can be said for journalists wanting to promote these bands. "Wait until they're doing something in the UK" has been a common excuse for years now.
But it's not just Journey that's suffering. Labels are still dragging their feet with regards to releasing SR-71. And the Tsar album won't be released until June, even though they've toured here virtually unannounced and are due back with The Ataris at the end of April.
The way the media and music industry have manipulated Hear'Say to #1 is an absolute disgrace, yet further proves just how stupid and ignorant the British public is.
