Yngwie's real name is Lars Yngve Johann Lannerback. When his parents divorced he took his mother's Maiden name of Malmsten ("auf Malmsten" actually or 'af' as the Swedes spell it I think).

I don't know why he changed the spelling and I also don't know if the whole family changed it or just Yngwie (though on Steeler's album Yngwie listed his mother as Rigmor Malmsten).
