This is because we're actually FANS and not only enjoy 'getting high on the new thing' in discovering cool new bands, but also spreading the word about them.
In my experience, those who work at record labels have no real interest in music. Most of them have fallen into the job and/or are into dance or indie music. Dealing with rock bands is a drag for most (especially press officers). Those who do really care are in the same position certain rock journalists have found themselves in and end up totally frustrated and disillusioned thanks to those 'in control' having a totally different agenda and just finding these passionate, well-informed individuals as an annoyance or a figure of fun.
Whilst SR-71 may well end up being released in the UK, will 'the press' be as enthusiastic about them as those who have already beeen trying to get them noticed for the best part of a year already?
The scenario with the major rock press these days is that unless the editor likes them or the group is doing something in the UK (although this clearly hasn't applied to Tsar!) then they won't be covered, despite the best efforts of those in the know to get them featured.....
