Best & Worst Duets of All Time

Here's something to put in your pipe and smoke... the best and worst AOR duets of all-time. In the spirit of High Fidelity, here's my Top 5:

1. Don't Fight It (Kenny Loggins and Steve Perry)
Everything Perry touches turns to gold!

2 To Miss Somebody (Jim Peterik with Dennis DeYoung)

3. Feelin' That Way (Journey)
Not really a duet in the traditional sense, but the vocal interplay between Rolie and Perry can't be denied!!

4. Take Me Home Tonight (Eddie Money and Ronnie Spector)
Again, not a duet in the Phil Collins/Marilyn Martin sense, but a brilliant vocal twosome all the same!

5. Almost Paradise (Mike Reno & Ann Wilson)
I heard they had to steel re-inforce the studio floors before these two came in to record. Great tune, which single-handledly provided CPR for Heart's career!

Here, in my humble opinion, are the WORST 5 duets ever:

1. The Right Combination (Seiko & Donnie Wahlberg)
An attempt at selling millions sold like 14. Japanese Seiko's control of the English language is tenuous at best, not unlike the pre-school fan base of Donnie Wahlberg's then-band, New Kids on the Block.

2. I Believe (David Hasselhoff & Laura Branigan)
One half of a great song. David Hasselhoff can sing about as well as an orange traffic cone. Laura Branigan's voice, on the other hand, is legendary. If only Jimi Jamison had cut the male vocal part instead of Mitch the singing lifeguard!!

3. Close My Eyes Forever (Lita Ford & Ozzy Osbourne)
Ozzy's most miserable vocal performance ever, paired with Lita the Wonder Slut trying to be sensitive. Made me want to Close My Ears Forever!!

4. We've Got Tonight (Kenny Rogers & Sheena Easton)
18 years on, I still can't listen to the original due to this wimpification of the Bob Seger classic. Kenny Rogers was the king of the cheesy love duet back in the early 80's. He's had more partners than Gene Simmons it would appear!!

5. The Best of Me (Olivia Newton-John and David Foster)
The superpowers of sap combine forces for a real cheddar melt ballad that makes Cetera seem like Slayer by comparison.

Again, just my two coins...
