Why don't labels give bands a chance anymore?

Journey.
REO Speedwagon.
Styx.
Rush.
Kansas.
Blue Oyster Cult.
Fleetwood Mac.

What do these bands have in common, you ask? Well, all their early albums bombed commerically. But why are they among the biggest names in rock history? Well, because their record companies hung in there and didn't drop them after their 2nd album!! Why can't labels show a little faith beyond one or two releases anymore?

Damn it!

I'm mad!!!

Think of all the Journeys and Styxs of today that aren't going to ever make it because of impatient record labels who foster a "sell a million or you're out the door" mentality!

Stop artist abortion!!

Okay, I'm through...

goodnight
