I also happen to love the first two Bon Jovi albums. Actually, They're the only BJ cds I listen to with any regularity. I love the "darkness" of these two records. I think that's what I like about them the most and why I personally prefer the early 80's sound as compared to late 80's and early 90's sound. I wouldn't say they depend on moody ballads either. There really aren't any ballads on the first one except for a few slow beginnings on 'Love Lies' and 'Shot Through The Heart' and there's only one ballad on '7800'. I also disagree with whoever said the first record sounds like a demo. Maybe it sounds a bit dated but I don't think it sounds like a demo at all. It's just very raw sounding and it happens to kick ass IMO. And the second one kicks ass as well. I like their sound on the first two records, it's too bad everything got so happy sounding afterwords and lost some of it's hard edge (darkness).
