So what if Steely Dan won? It's still a complete and unmitigated disaster zone. And the end result is inversely proportional to the artists talent base: the less talented one is the more likely the winning opportunity.
About the best thing of the night was seeing Toni Braxton in "that dress" - what little she was wearing anyway! Bodacious!
Where were artists like Richard Thompson and Tom Petty who penned truly brilliant albums in the last year? Why do we have to put up with crap of the highest magnitude peddled by the likes of 'Destiny's Child' and the even more abrasive 'Eminem'?
Let's face it popular music is going down the creative gurgler. As Steve Morse of Deep Purple fame commented - if it wasn't for the diehard fans supporting the tours the classic rock bands would really suffer. And you know who's to blame - the fat cats from the major labels who are sacrificing longevity for short term profit.
But at the end of the day it's all irrelevent as the classic rock gems keep appearing - latest Kansas, Helloween, Danger Danger, Heartland etc. and that's enough for me.
I'm happy U2 won although I hardly think their latest album was that seminal - apart from the excellent Beautiful Day. Any opinions on the Grammy farce?Cheers.KAOS FAN!
