Old School Rock in Europe

I live in the States and I was wondering what the general climate for old school rock and roll is in many European countries. I am told that it is all but dead in England to the point that even relatively well known rock acts from the late 70s only draw maybe 50 people at a given club. That's very sad. I would be interested in hearing thoughts on this and how things are in surrounding countries such as Germany, Holland, France, etc. Thanks, Steve
