Mid-tempo does not equal power ballad

Andrew... "State of the Heart" and "Honeymoon In Beirut" were more mid-tempo tracks, not power ballads per se. "Me and Johnny" was never a US hit either nor was its tempo slow enough to qualify for my definition of Ballad. Perhaps I was being opaque, but when I said ballad, I was referring to an "Open Arms" or a "Right Here Waiting" type of song. "What Kind of Fool Am I" may prove me wrong, but in the U.S., it only reached #21.

I think with the right song, Rick could have put one over the fence.
