In some ways I agree with what you about Shine. It is very 'country' influenced as some of the songs were from Mitch's failed attempt at the Nashville music scene. Overall (and I'm certainly not the only one that thinks this), Shine is an average disc, especially compared to his self-titled debut. I wouldn't say that Celings & Walls was better, but neither compare to the 1992 gem.

I'd have to say that this wasn't the first deception of this type. I was told over and over how great Nelson's Life was, saying that it could be compared to their 1990 debut. I would just like to say that Life is just a country pop record. Some songs were even written by famous Nashville locals. This is nothing like After the Rain. It's still a good disc, but not comparable to the first by any means.

Just goes to show that you can't trust anybody's judgement but your own.
