Because even our favourite artists (whoever that is for each of us) only has a limited amount of originality, spark, talent, creativity - call it what you will. Too much stuff and you end up like ; Paul McCartney, Gary Hughes, Michael Schenker, Legs Diamond, Angel, Kenny Kaos, Chris Ousey : the list is endless of people who either write too much too quickly, spread their talent (if they had any) too thin or keep going long after they've passed their BBE date. They become substandard, start dabbling in genres they don't do well or repeat themselves horribly. I'll take a small but perfectly formed body of work any day.
