You make a good case and unfortunately your stance on the situation will probably hold a lot of water in 5 years. I particularly agree that as their fan base ages, lower sales will follow. Gettn' old does have its disadvatages doesn't it? LOL.

So where are the rock fans that are now in their 30's supposed to go for good music now days? Seriously, I'd like to know because all the bands I loved in high school are laughed at by the major labels - hence, they don't get played on main stream radio if they're lucky enough to get an album recoreded at all.
